Dear Colleagues and Partners, 

 As you know, the devastating floods that took place in our region in October 2024 caused severe damages which will take a lot of time, effort and money to be fixed. As a public University, UPV participates in several solidarity initiatives, one of them is the Salvem Les Fotos  Project (“Save the Photos”) to allow families to recuperate and restore their family photos (See Local Press article from 25/11/24 and the IG account of the Project).  Among many other things, many families lost their personal photographs, since water flooded countless ground floors in various towns around Valencia.

From the very beginning, a volunteer team of teachers and students in the field of photography, digital imaging, and conservation and restoration was organized. Now, with a well-structured and consolidated work team, there is an opportunity to include new volunteers in the project. In order to channel the requests for participation from volunteer students from other countries, we have created this call. 

Our goal is to be able to incorporate volunteer students from partner universities, formalizing the activity under the framework of the usual internship programs(Erasmus+, SEMP, etc.) or even within the framework of the research process of the final degree/master’s project. 

Given the size of the project, requests from students who wish to participate must be channelled through our online exchange application system, explained in the attached document. Dates are flexible, in the frame between January and June 2025, for a minimum period of 2 months. There are two main profiles working in the project: photography restorers and digitalization/retouching. 

 We would appreciate it if you would spread the information among students from your institution who may be interested in participating.
