1st Educational Erasmus+/ICM Week for supervisors and PhD candidates (16-20 June 2025) 

Proceedings and Remarks

The first International E+/ICM week was successfully concluded on Friday, 20th June 2025, leaving the best impressions on organizers and participants. The week included, among others, teaching and training activities for both academic staff and PhD candidates. Presentations and discussions about the PhD studies took place on the event’s welcome day, when the Greek National Agency (Greek Scholarship Foundation), the Vice Rector of International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Theodoros Xanthos and UNIWA’s academic and administrative staff delivered presentations. The day was highlighted with the presentation of Professor Maria Rangoussi, from the Electrical and Electronics Department and head of the departmental committee for doctoral studies, which analyzes the Greek regulation on PhD studies.

The week included mixed activities and course sessions shared by both professors and PhD candidates. An interdisciplinary teaching lab included roundtable discussions on designing the future of learning, innovative teaching approaches, and smart solutions for sustainable societies. The discussed areas were digital classrooms and technologies that might be used for studying in the future and the most related educational methodologies. Course overview and objectives, targeting teaching groups, integrated technologies and digital tools, simulation and scenarios ‘planning, course benefits, and outcomes were discussed with increased interest in a collaborative group environment.

The general conclusions concerned

  • balance between technological innovation and human-centered pedagogy (inclusive, agile, and responsive to the evolving needs of students and society)
  • embrace innovation in technology and mindset (more engaging, personalized, and future-ready educational experiences)
  • emphasis on collaborative work and flexibility (formal and informal learning, academic and real-world skills)
  • focus on equity and access 
  • strategic vision and planning

We would like to sincerely thank all participants from ANAU University, Armenia; Georgian Technical University and Ivan Javakhisvili Tbilisi State University, Georgia; the Technical University of Moldova; the National University of Food Science and V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University of Ukraine; and the Moravian College Olomouc, in Czech Republic, for their valuable contribution, active engagement, and thoughtful insights. Their presence played a vital role in the success of this event.
